Edge-Core data center switches deliver high performance L2/L3 switching capability, which is optimized for the scaling, performance and low power consumption requirements of cloud data centers, Edge-Core TOR and spine switches support data center fabrics built on 1G, 10G, and 40G Ethernet today, and provide a path to increased capacity with 25G, 50G and 100G Ethernet with next generation switches. Edge-Core switches support choice of Network Operating System (NOS) to address different network use cases and support integration with leading SDN and infrastructure orchestration architectures.
All Edge-Core data center switches support the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) for automated loading of compatible NOS software. Edge-Core works with a broad set of open source NOS and commercial NOS vendors to provide NOS options suitable for different network use cases and requirements.
| ● | Switch Light OS®:lightweight NOS delivered as part of centralized, controller SDN applications from Big Switch Networks®-- Big Tap™ Monitoring Fabric and Big Cloud Fabric™ for network virtualization |
| ● | Broadcom®ICOS:Web-scale NOS, providing traditional L2 and L3 functions and management, with an API structure for value-added apps and integration with provisioning and orchestration systems |
| ● | Cumulus®Linux®: Web-scale Linux operating system for network hardware, enabling use of Linux tools for management, provisioning, monitoring, application development, and orchestration. |
| ● | Open Network Linux: ONL is an open source and OCP-approved reference NOS that provides basic switch functions and a platform for development and deployment of value-add network functions. |
| ● | Pica8® PicOS™: Hybrid NOS supporting traditional switch-based L2 and L3 protocols, plus SDN functionality through Open-vSwitch (OVS) based OpenFlow interface to centralized controller applications |
